adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Alfred has found a new home! His story: tomcat Alfred is once again on the search for his home. He came into his home in Munich at the end of August, but unfortunately, he cannot stay there. Alfred is now 3 years old and has unfortunately not yet found his forever home. He was found on the streets in Romania by children and brought to the vet with the request to take the young tomcat in. At first, Alfred was a bit shy and quiet at the foster home; this will likely also be the case in the new home at the beginning. He will need some time to adjust and warm up, so people who do not expect too much from him at the beginning and give him time to adjust are sought. If Alfred feels safe and secure, he will reveal himself as a friendlier and more sociable tomcat who is open to people and other animals. Generally, he is very easy to care for, as he can be kept as a single cat, but also enjoys company. However, he does not necessarily need other cats to feel comfortable, as long as he gets enough attention and affection from his people. Additionally, Alfred can be rehomed as an outdoor cat in a quiet area. If this is not possible, he will certainly be happy with a cat-safe netted balcony where he can bask in the sun. Alfred can now start his journey to his new home and is already neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. Furthermore, he was tested negative for FIV and FeLV and comes with an EU pet passport. Thank you to Carsten L.

About Alfred

What life with Alfred looks like

Alfred is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alfred, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alfred?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alfred on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alfred if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alfred already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alfred isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alfred and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
