Ali

Male · Senior · 12 years

He’s an older, cheerful bachelor. Although he’s chipped and we’ve sent information to his former owners… no one has come forward to claim him. He’s a friendly, affectionate, and independent dog who loves walks and sniffing around. At the shelter, he tolerates other dogs—as long as they keep their distance and behave well. He looks just like a human and really enjoys going outside his kennel. He puts on his leash nicely, tolerates baths, and handles veterinary procedures with ease. He’s energetic and excited for the first few moments of a walk, but then he calms down and trots along a bit less nervously. He’s a wonderful and charming companion. The dog has undergone a thorough series of medical tests and preventive care; several harmless lumps were removed, and his slightly low thyroid levels have been thoroughly evaluated. He’s now on the mend, and the main health recommendation is to lose weight. We recommend a home with an elevator, avoiding homes with many steps or stairs.

Ali to starszy, wesoły kawaler. Mimo, że miał czip i wysłaliśmy informacje do byłych właścicieli… nikt go nie odebrał. To przyjazny, przymilny, samodzielny psiak, który kocha spacerki i węszenie. W schronisku toleruje inne pieski jeśli zachowują odległość i dobre maniery. Bardzo wygląda człowieka i wyjście poza boks. Ładnie zakłada szeleczki, znosi kąpiel i zabiegi weterynaryjne. Jest energiczny i podekscytowany przez pierwsze kilka chwil spaceru, ale potem uspokaja się i drepcze nieco mniej nerwowo. To wspaniały i urokliwy towarzysz. Piesek musiał przejść sporą serię badań i profilaktyki, miał wyciętych kilka niegroźnych guzów i zbadane słabsze wyniki tarczycy. Obecnie wychodzi na prostą, a głównym zaleceniem zdrowotnym jest zejście z wagi. Zalecamy dom z windą, bez dużej ilości stopni i schodów.

About Ali

What life with Ali looks like

Ali is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ali, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ali?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ali on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ali if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ali already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ali isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ali and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
