Adopt Alvin

Mixed Breed · Male

Life on the streets was never easy for me. I’ve long struggled with painful skin problems, and when winter arrived, things became much worse. My body became covered in scabs and I began losing patches of fur, but I kept trying to carry on. Then eating started to hurt. I struggled even with soft food, constantly flicking my tongue because something didn’t feel right. When I was finally taken to the vet, they discovered painful mouth sores, a serious infection, and broken teeth that had likely been causing me discomfort for a long time. The streets don’t allow cats to heal — pain and illness simply continue until someone steps in. Thankfully, this time someone did. I was brought to safety and began receiving the treatment I desperately needed, including medication, pain relief, and dental care. Now I’m finally safe, resting, and beginning to recover without the daily struggle of survival. I’m a gentle boy who appreciates quiet comfort and kindness, and I’m slowly learning what it feels like not to be in pain. All I’m looking for now is a calm, loving home where I can continue healing and enjoy the peaceful life every cat deserves. About Alvin

What life with Alvin looks like

Alvin is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Help A Stray Cat in Turkey.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇹🇷Adopting from Turkey

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alvin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alvin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help A Stray Cat handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alvin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alvin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help A Stray Cat will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alvin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alvin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help A Stray Cat early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alvin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
