Adopt James

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

I’m around 7–8 years old, and for most of my life I had to survive on the streets, searching through bins just to find something to eat. It was a hard life, and eventually it caught up with me. I became very unwell and had to spend two months at the vets while they helped me recover. Thankfully, I’m feeling much better now and I’m healthy again. These days, I’m living safely in the office where I’m cared for every day. I have regular meals, a warm place to rest, and comforts I never had before. After everything I’ve been through, I’ve learned to appreciate the simple things — a soft place to sleep, gentle company, and feeling safe. I’ll be ready to travel to the UK in about 3 months, and I can’t help but dream about what it would be like to have a home of my own. If you think you could give me a calm, loving place to finally relax, I’d love to be part of your life. I’m a gentle, affectionate boy who enjoys quiet company and will bring warmth, calm, and lots of love into your home. About James

What life with James looks like

James is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Help A Stray Cat in Turkey.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇹🇷Adopting from Turkey

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting James, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about James?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help A Stray Cat handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw James on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt James if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help A Stray Cat will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is James already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if James isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help A Stray Cat early rather than rehoming privately; they know James and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
