Adopt Amaro

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Age: Born around December 2022 Gender: Male Neutered: Yes Character: Friendly with a reference person Size: Approximately 46 cm In shelter since: February 2023 Specials: Shortened tail Hello there, are you perhaps looking for me? My name is Amaro. I haven't seen much of the world yet. Although I'm here among many other dogs with whom I can play, I sometimes feel alone and then become sad. I would so much like a family and a life outside all these fences here. Of course, I have food and a little roof over my fur, but that's not the same. I would much rather be part of a pack where I can spend the day together and go through thick and thin. We would be the best of friends, always there for each other. At first, I would have to learn a lot, because I don't know much yet. Sometimes, I might be scared or even frightened by something. Also, a small misfortune could happen to me because I still don't fully understand how dog ABC works. But I can do all of that if you give me time and meet me with love and understanding. I promise that I will try my best to do everything right. And a nice warm dog bed where I can retreat and rest, that's what I also wish for. But otherwise, I'm very easy to care for. Although I'm a young dog, I belong more to the quiet fellow animals who don't always step into the front row to be seen, but I still look forward to human attention and lots of cuddles. Would you like to meet me and learn more about me? Then simply write my name on the interest form, and maybe we'll see each other soon. If you're interested in Amaro, please fill out our interest form () or write us an email or a message on Facebook. Amaro is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. As Traces, one refers to the database system with which the entire animal transport within the EU is monitored. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months of age, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis, and leishmaniasis. The sponsorship for Amaro has been taken over by Stephani H. and ensures a full food bowl. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!.

About Amaro

What life with Amaro looks like

Amaro is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amaro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amaro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amaro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amaro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amaro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amaro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amaro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
