adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal!Amber has found her home quickly! Her story: Our sweet Amber was rescued from the public shelter in Zalau. She came with a hole in her right ear, which had severely swollen after she was unjustly ear-tagged. Amber was found on the streets and brought to the animal shelter. With her temperament and very approachable and friendly nature, our helpers quickly realized that she must have already had a home. The young puppy girl was initially overwhelmed by the noise and stress in the enclosure upon arrival at our private shelter. Once it became a bit quieter, however, she sought out contact with people very much. She is a very humble and cooperative female dog. Amber loves being stroked, is friendly and open to people and other dogs. On the leash, she walks very well and, as expected, she was also very uncomplicated in her foster family after arrival. She also loves the company of other dogs, but being close to her people is the greatest for her. Amber is currently around 2 years old and has a great body size of about 43 cm and 14 kg, making her perfect for taking everywhere. She has quickly learned the rules of family life and shows herself to be relaxed, familiar with many noises and everyday situations, and now fully enjoys her new dog life. Amber is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas and has her own EU pet passport. In her foster family, she won everyone's hearts and has now found her Forever Home there. Thank you Vanessa E.! You gave Amber this beautiful name and thus gave her the first important step into a new and beautiful dog life. As of: 27.11.

Stand: 27.11.2024

About Amber

What life with Amber looks like

Amber is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amber, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amber?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amber on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amber if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amber already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amber isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amber and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
