Has already lived in a house: not known ( ) yes ( ) no. In November 2021, two young dogs came under the care of the NOAH animal shelter in Hungary via the animal welfare association Füzesbonyi Állatvédő Alapítvány. The two were kept on a chain in a village in the Heves County, they were terrorized and beaten by their owners. One of them is Ambrózia. She is a medium-sized mixed-breed female dog born around 2021. She is very kind and very, very active. She runs and jumps all day in the kennel. This is actually no surprise, as she spent her previous life on a chain and this shelter kennel means more freedom for her than she has ever experienced before. Thanks to her youth, she seems to shake off her difficult past more easily than her companion Ambrus. She is friendly and cheerful, but she still has to learn a lot. As she probably has never lived in an apartment, she certainly needs to learn to be housebroken. Every Saturday she practices walking on a leash with our volunteers. In a new home it would certainly be useful to attend dog training classes or to seek the help of a dog trainer. We would be very happy about sponsorships - with which you can contribute to the general care of our protected animals. Ambrózia is vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed. Gets along with other dogs.

About Ambrózia

What life with Ambrózia looks like

Ambrózia is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Noah Tierheim Ungarn in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ambrózia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ambrózia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noah Tierheim Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ambrózia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ambrózia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noah Tierheim Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ambrózia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ambrózia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noah Tierheim Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ambrózia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
