Amos

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Age: Born around 2017 Gender: Male Neutered: Yes Character: Friendly, initially a bit reserved Size: Approximately 45 cm In shelter since: February 2021 Hello, world, I would like to introduce myself a bit more! My name is Amos. I have to admit, when I arrived here not long ago, I was quite intimidated by the new situation. So many dogs around me, none of whom you can avoid, and then the people approaching us. My life on the street was different. I could decide who I wanted to have contact with and who I wanted to avoid. But here, I am behind bars, and there, you can't make many decisions. However, I made one decision, and I am very proud of it … I decided to see the whole thing more positively and to leave my snail house behind. What brings it to me to crawl into the hut when the world outside might still hold so many adventures for me. To be able to experience these adventures, I need people who discover me here and feel that we could be a good match. The shy dogs don't have it so easy, and that's why I am now a brave guy who dares to step forward and also grabs a treat in the first row and no longer avoids people. Okay, I am still not a daredevil, and sometimes I am surprised by my own courage, but I don't find it so bad to seek your proximity. I hope this is the right way to finally be discovered. I cannot promise that I will still be so brave with you and that the courage won't fade away in the first moment. But if you take me by the paw, don't expect too much at the beginning, and help me with the small steps, I am sure we can make a good team. If you are interested in Amos, please write us an email or a message on Facebook. Amos is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs travel vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and dewormed, and they have an EU passport. Additionally, a rapid test for Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Borrelia, Anaplasma, Ehrlichia, Dirofilaria, and leishmaniasis. The sponsorship for Amos has been taken over by Tanja S., and she ensures a full plate. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

About Amos

What life with Amos looks like

Amos is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amos, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amos?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amos on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amos if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amos already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amos isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amos and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
