Amy

Shih Tzu · Female · Young · 2 years

Hello everyone! 🐾 Let me introduce myself: my name is Amy, I am a very sweet little girl. I was born in October 2024, weigh only 8 kg, and am considered a small-sized dog. Unfortunately, my life did not start out well. I was abandoned near a shelter along with other puppies from my family. I do not know why we were left behind, but despite my past, I have not lost my trust in people and still have so much love to give. I am very sociable and get along wonderfully with other dogs. When I was found, I had an ear infection, but fortunately I received treatment and have fully recovered. Now I dream of having a family of my own, a cozy home, and lots of cuddles. I am looking for someone who will make me feel loved and safe, someone who will choose me forever and never leave me behind again. I may be small, but my heart is full of love! All I ask is for a chance to show you just how much I have to give and, hopefully, to finally find my forever family. I am currently in Albania, but for the right adoption, I can travel anywhere in Europe and to the United Kingdom within two to three weeks. 🐶 If you would like to give me a chance, I will be waiting here for you. 👉 I am vaccinated, spayed, and 4DX negative. 👉 Adoption only with an adoption contract, adoption fee, and pre-adoption home check (including RBU). 📝 Foster/adoption form: 📞 🇮🇹 Chiara (WhatsApp) – 🇬🇧 Chiara (WhatsApp only) – 🇩🇪 Sabrina (WhatsApp)

About Amy

What life with Amy looks like

Amy is a small young adult shih tzu dog waiting at Furry Rescue Italy in Nazionale.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amy?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Furry Rescue Italy handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amy if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Furry Rescue Italy will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Amy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amy isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Furry Rescue Italy early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
