Adopt Amy

English Bulldog · Female · Adult · 7 years

I am Amy, a female dog with a history, clear boundaries, and much potential for the right home. I was given to the animal shelter because unfortunately, aggression and bite incidents towards people had already occurred beforehand. Additionally, I defend my food, bringing with me a topic that must be addressed. In the animal shelter, I often react stressed and am insecure in new situations. I find support mainly with my trusted people – with them, I am obedient and orient myself well. Nevertheless, I also have my breed-specific stubbornness. In the animal shelter, I have already made significant progress, but I will always remain a demanding dog. During the day, I can walk in a small group with other selected dogs, and I reliably wear my muzzle, which I associate positively. Generally, other dogs are not my thing – I do not need them in my immediate surroundings. I wish for a home with very knowledgeable, confident people with experience in dealing with aggressive behavior in dogs. I need clear guidance, firm structures, and reliable management – this gives me security and orientation. I will only be rehomed as a single dog. Children and a city environment are not suitable for me. If you know what you are doing, are not afraid of responsibility, and are willing to work consistently with me, then feel free to contact me. I am not an easy dog, but with the right people, I can make my way. Do I have a chance?

About Amy

What life with Amy looks like

Amy is a medium-sized adult english bulldog dog waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Has history of biting humans, resource aggression, requires muzzle, needs behavioral therapy, must be only dog

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
