Anacleto

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 10 years

A new chance for a special cat Anacleto's story is one that reminds us every day why the fight against animal abandonment is so important. This beautiful 10-year-old cat arrived at our shelter after a request for help from Viterbo. He was found in very difficult conditions, debilitated and in need of urgent care. After initial veterinary checks it emerged that Anacleto has FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus), a disease that affects the immune system of cats. A diagnosis that often makes it more difficult to find a family willing to welcome these animals, but which does not detract from their ability to give affection, trust and companionship. Today Anacleto is better thanks to the care received and the love of the volunteers. He is a gentle and calm cat who deserves to live surrounded by the affection that he has probably been missing for too long. His story is also an opportunity to remember how important sterilization and responsibility in managing domestic animals are. Preventing unwanted births means reducing the number of cats destined for the street, abandonment and suffering. Our shelter continues every day to work against the phenomenon of abandonment and to offer a second chance to the most fragile and needy cats. If you want to meet Anacleto, come visit us at the shelter. We will be happy to tell you his story and introduce you to this wonderful kitten with eyes full of hope. The shelter is open every day until 12:00, including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Anacleto is waiting for you. Sometimes it just takes an encounter to change a life. About Anacleto

What life with Anacleto looks like

Anacleto is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali in Italy.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Anacleto, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Anacleto?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Anacleto on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Anacleto if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Anacleto already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Anacleto isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali early rather than rehoming privately; they know Anacleto and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
