Anellino

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 5 months

During our Sardinia tour in March 2026, a visit to LIDA’s refuge in Olbia was naturally on our itinerary—and we were eagerly awaited there. As always, there were several new arrivals that they wanted to introduce to us. Among these new arrivals was this lovely little male dog: Anellino. He had been picked up at the end of January 2026, wandering alone and lost in Olbia. The poor fellow had undoubtedly been born to a hunter’s female dog. Because among hunters—and often also among shepherds—it’s a brutal practice to tie off a dog’s tail with wire or a rubber ring, deliberately causing the lower part of the tail to die off. What goes on in the minds of these people? And why would anyone mistreat a young puppy in this way, then abandon it and leave it to its fate? It continues to boggle our minds how barbarically helpless creatures are treated in our supposedly so civilized world. For Anellino, it was already too late to save his tail—but his life was saved, as he received loving care at the refuge, allowing him to recover and regain his strength. We were thrilled to meet this lovable little dog. Even though he probably wasn’t entirely comfortable with the photo session, Anellino still showed himself to be very sweet and friendly. For his further development, it would be beneficial if he could leave the refuge as soon as possible. The sooner Anellino finds a family environment, the better. Would you like to give the lovable Anellino the forever home of his dreams—a loving family connection?May 29, 2026: Anellino was allowed to travel to his foster home in Germany.July 1, 2026: Anellino is a sweet, cheerful, young dog who immediately wins hearts with his open and carefree nature. He approaches people kindly and openly and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. His joyful spirit and curiosity simply bring joy. Of course, Anellino is still a real youngster—he’s full of energy, sometimes has plenty of mischief on his mind, and still needs to learn the basics of dog ownership. Recall, leash manners, impulse control, and all those things that make a good everyday companion are currently being diligently practiced. He’s looking for people who enjoy patiently and consistently explaining the world to him with love and growing together with him. He’s already doing really well with house training. Driving in the car and learning to be left alone are also being gradually practiced and are progressing positively. Anellino has a congenital dislocation of the kneecap and will therefore soon undergo surgery at an experienced veterinary clinic. The prognosis after the procedure is good, so he’ll likely go on to lead a life free of discomfort. Especially for Anellino, meaningful, calm activities are particularly valuable. Nose work, search games, mental challenges, and bonding exercises perfectly suit his nature and promote his development in an ideal way. Of course, once he’s recovered, he’ll also enjoy long walks and hikes—tailored to his needs and with a healthy amount of exercise. Anellino is looking for people who don’t expect a “perfect” dog, but rather a young companion who wants to learn, experience, and grow alongside them—people who don’t see his little peculiarity as a limitation, but recognize what really matters: a friendly, tolerant, joyful dog with great potential and an even bigger heart.Where are the people who will give Anellino the chance to settle in—people who are eager for shared adventures, loving training, and a close bond? Anellino is waiting to finally find his forever family.A big thank you once again goes to our dear photographer Petra Müller, who, due to the currently high temperatures, took time early Sunday morning to volunteer for a photoshoot and help us with the

Was geht in diesen Menschen vor?

About Anellino

What life with Anellino looks like

Anellino is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Anellino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Anellino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Anellino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Anellino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Anellino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Anellino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Anellino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
