Angel &#8211

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Whoever meets today the handsome male dogs Ángel at the small Refugio El Azar shelter sees a healthy dog who is extremely friendly and curious, approaching visitors, playing with his friends, delighted by every affection and every treat, and very much enjoying long walks, the longer the better. That Ángel today can charm with his handsome appearance and playfully run through the run with the other dogs would not have been thought possible by anyone who saw him just two months ago (in January 2025). Ángel was discovered by an animal rescuer while she was walking her own dogs. He lived near a grill area, but apparently, the charming two-and-a-half-year-old didn’t manage to convince the people eating their meals there to share with him … Ángel was less than skin and bones when he followed his rescuer home with what little strength he had left. Although so emaciated that he could barely hold himself up on his legs, his tail wagged continuously. The clever mixed breed had immediately understood that his suffering was now at an end. At the animal shelter, Ángel has already gained some weight, and he has successfully worked on building muscle. His fur gleams in the sun with his ever-shining eyes – and after he was neutered, vaccinated, and given a fancy blue passport, the friendly heartbreaker now only awaits his ticket to great happiness. Ángel is a sporty, young dog, eager to learn, and cuddly. He likes to play exuberantly with his two- and four-legged friends over fields and meadows, followed by a thorough cuddling session. If you are looking for a motivated companion for your outdoor activities, a warm lap, a soul comforter, a witty rascal who brightens even the darkest days, a handsome photo model, and a real researcher, then we can only urge you to inquire with us quickly about how Ángel can travel to you – because you are the “Match made in Heaven” for our angel on four legs!

DE·Show original

About Angel &#8211

What life with Angel &#8211 looks like

Angel &#8211 is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Angel &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Angel &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Angel &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Angel &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Angel &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Angel &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Angel &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
