Angelica

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

December 29, 2018 - Angelica is sleeping, peacefully as if she were in the most comfortable and quiet place in the world. For her, it certainly is. Do you remember when she arrived? She was a battered skeleton, a breath of wind would have been enough to make her fall and never get up again. But she resisted, clung to that little bit of life that still supported her, and slowly, day by day, she was reborn. Angelica thanks all the friends who took her into their arms and helped her with lots of good meals and medicines for her treatments. Now she's waiting for just one thing, but we're sure it will come too. Meanwhile, she sleeps and dreams... November 14, 2018 - Do you remember in what condition Angelica was when she arrived at the animal shelter? It has been months, through ups and downs, we have cared for her and look at her today, she doesn't even seem like herself, she's unrecognizable. All this has been possible thanks to your help, and now Angelica is waiting only for a home and a family that can welcome her into their arms, to hold her tightly and continue walking beside her. Click on the photos to enlarge them! June 21, 2018 - Angelica's recovery is very slow and hard, very hard. She arrived here in a very tragic situation. Words are not needed, just the images. She is a small female dog, very kind. Thank you to those who help us for everything Angelica needs. June 19, 2018 - The sweet Angelica is responding well to treatment. She has a big appetite and loves to eat fresh bread. Who knows how much suffering she must have gone through. Daughter of the indifference she encountered every day. We are doing everything to restore her dignity, together with you. June 8, 2018 - The detailed tests have unfortunately confirmed our fears, even Angelica has leishmaniasis. It was evident, it was impossible that she was not affected by this disease. Angelica is very gentle, like all dogs tortured in body and soul, she only asks for love. Animals are unique and incredible creatures, with a capacity for reaction to adversity from which we could learn a lot. We need the medicines for the treatments, we thank anyone who will help us. June 6, 2018 - Our wonderful creature is responding to treatment. She is an angel, and when you caress her, she rests her head on the palm of your hand, she needs so much affection. Tomorrow, analyses will be sent to specialized laboratories to search for possible diseases. We will do everything to restore her life. Thank you to those who will help us. Angelica needs specific healing food from Hill's, Cefacure Tabs 1000 and Vibravet. June 5, 2018 - Angelica was rescued at the edge of Olbia by a girl following a funeral. Her condition is the direct result of the indifference she encountered. Emaciated. Literally eaten by fleas. In many years of volunteering, we have never found a small female dog infested with fleas like her, there wasn't a single centimeter of her body free. The tests showed a strong anemia, but negative for leishmaniasis. We will do more detailed tests to search for possible diseases, she is a skeleton. Full of pus-filled sores. She has started treatment. Angelica is a very kind small female dog and deserves everything. She is the shadow of a dog. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to those who will help Angelica. Grazie a chi ci aiuterà. About Angelica

What life with Angelica looks like

Angelica is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at L.I.D.A. Olbia in Olbia.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Angelica, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Angelica?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. L.I.D.A. Olbia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Angelica on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Angelica if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — L.I.D.A. Olbia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Angelica already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Angelica isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with L.I.D.A. Olbia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Angelica and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
