Adopt Angus

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Angus is a well-balanced and friendly dog who behaves excellently at the animal shelter. He is very clingy towards the volunteers and always shows himself to be obedient. He also gets along well with other dogs and contributes to a harmonious coexistence. Although Angus is not particularly active, he possesses impressive jumping skills. When he hears something going on outside on Saturdays, he will sometimes overcome the shelter door – but only to curiously wander around the entrance. A quick call is enough, and he will come right back. His past was unfortunately not so pleasant: Originally, he was given as a puppy with the false information that he would remain small. As he grew, his owners no longer wanted to keep him. A family friend temporarily cared for him but could not find a permanent solution – so Angus eventually ended up at the animal shelter. Now, Angus is searching for a loving home where he can finally belong. He is an uncomplicated dog who quickly bonds with new people. A garden would be ideal, but the fences should be high enough to prevent Angus from making a small excursion out of curiosity. For those looking for a loyal, clingy, and pleasant companion, Angus will be a wonderful lifelong companion. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

About Angus

What life with Angus looks like

Angus is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutz Pur e.V. in Kettershausen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Angus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Angus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Pur e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Angus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Angus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Pur e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Angus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Angus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Pur e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Angus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
