Anjou

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 15 years

Hello, my little name is Anjou and I am a lovely spayed pinscher of medium size. With a very gentle and sociable temperament, I get along well with dogs, cats, and children. I love lounging on the sofa, but I also have enough energy for beautiful daily walks. I arrived at our shelter in April 2026 due to financial problems my owner was facing and could no longer afford my health care. Indeed, I suffer from kidney and liver insufficiency, which requires a special diet and daily treatment. These illnesses are not yet stabilized, so I need to see the veterinarian regularly. I also have several nodules and warts that do not require intervention but must be monitored. Additionally, I sometimes have small accidents at night due to my urinary incontinence. In short, apart from my health, I am a very easy-going dog and will quickly attach myself to my new family, who will need to be stable and present.

About Anjou

What life with Anjou looks like

Anjou is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Oasis des vétérans.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Anjou, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Anjou?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Oasis des vétérans handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Anjou on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Anjou if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Oasis des vétérans will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Anjou already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Anjou isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Oasis des vétérans early rather than rehoming privately; they know Anjou and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
