Annie

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

* for an explanation, please read Why we are cautious about placing our dogs with families with (young) children. Character: Small Annie is a modest girl who has taken very nice steps with her foster family and is now ready for the next step: finding a suitable forever home. She is calm, gentle and loving. She needs someone who can see her subtle signals well; Annie is (still) an introverted dog who turns inward when she doesn't like things or when she is overwhelmed by too many impressions. The conditions listed below are all important to ensure that Annie becomes happy - and her adopter(s) with her! Behavior at home: Annie is a calm dog who likes a cuddle at the right time but is not pushy. She still sleeps a lot; not surprising for a dog who was recently in a completely different and very stressful environment and has now come into a whole new world. She gets along well with the other dog in the foster family, she respects her boundaries. She also imitates Annie. Although Annie can be placed as the only dog, another dog would really be an added value for her. The cats in the house she completely ignores, even if they run right in front of her nose.

About Annie

What life with Annie looks like

Annie is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Straydogs Rescue Nederland in RC Nieuwe Pekela.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Annie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Annie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Straydogs Rescue Nederland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Annie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Annie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Straydogs Rescue Nederland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Annie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Annie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Straydogs Rescue Nederland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Annie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
