Adopt Anouk

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

♀, born 12/2018 - Love-seeking in 38304 Wolfenbüttel Anouk is a mixed-breed female dog born in December 2018 with a shoulder height of ca. 50 cm. Anouk comes from an animal shelter in Sofia/Bulgaria. Together with her siblings, she was found as a puppy in a cardboard box that was left at the animal shelter. Lovingly cared for in the animal shelter, they all developed well. In April '19, Anouk had the great fortune to be placed in a foster home in Germany. Her foster mom describes her as a female dog who loves her trusted people above all else and builds a very close bond with them. Anouk prefers to spend her time indoors and feels most comfortable when all family members are at home. Her perfect day consists of lots of cuddling and cuddles, as well as small play and training phases – at the moment, she loves playing with an old "Quietsch-Hund" (which no longer squeaks), tearing apart kitchen rolls, and searching for treats in "sniffing boards." Anouk wishes for a life as an "Einzelprinzessin" – she would like to have her dearly loved people all to herself and not share their love and attention with any other animal family member. Additionally, it would be dreamy if Anouk could spend the entire day by her people's side – whether at home or together on a relaxed workspace (without other animals). Anouk does not seek adventures – the "Outside World" is scary to her, and exciting walks or big excursions are not her thing. For her, less is more. She wishes for a relaxed home in a quiet location (very much with a garden), where she can spend most of her day with people who give her security and a lot of love. Anouk is already neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. She is located on a foster home in 38304 Wolfenbüttel. The adoption fee for Anouk is 430 Euro. Would you like to give Anouk a home? ♀, geb. About Anouk

What life with Anouk looks like

Anouk is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Anouk, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Anouk?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Anouk on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Anouk if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Anouk already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Anouk isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Anouk and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
