adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Anouk has found her people! Her story: Anouk – half Snow Queen, half Sofa Wolf. Anouk is one of those female dogs where you wonder how someone could just leave such a gentle soul on their own. She once had a home – until she was abandoned. Without explanation, without a chance. Through our helper and veterinarian Roxana, she found her way to the Shelter in Bistrita, where she now awaits her second spring – and rightly so! At around five years old, Anouk has already gone through her teenage years – she’s no longer a rambunctious puppy – but life in a real home is still completely new to her. She’s medium-sized (about 55 cm shoulder height), with a sculpted beauty and icy-blue Husky eyes, a dense white coat, and a look that’s both curious and cautious: “Do you really mean it this time with me?” She shows herself openly, friendly, and very cuddly towards people – she gladly accepts closeness and cuddles. With other dogs in the shelter, like Bluna, the interaction has been unremarkable so far, but a thorough dog compatibility test is still pending, as Anouk is still very new to us. We also can’t say anything about her with cats at the moment. Anouk is likely a Husky (or mix) and brings with her typical traits: intelligence, a love for movement, independence, and a certain portion of stubbornness, which should be taken with a sense of humor. She needs mental and physical stimulation, probably loves long walks, maybe even pull dog sports – and people who are eager to explore the world with her. Because despite her age, she still has a lot to learn – from leash walking to house training to everyday training – we wish for her a home with patience, experience, or the willingness to inform themselves well. A securely fenced yard would be ideal (after all, Huskies are notorious escape artists), and a visit to a positively working dog training class would be a big plus. Anouk brings the most important thing: a friendly nature, a great willingness to cooperate – and the desire to finally find a place to belong. She travels microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, dewormed, and with an EU pet passport.

About Anouk

What life with Anouk looks like

Anouk is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Anouk, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Anouk?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Anouk on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Anouk if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Anouk already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Anouk isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Anouk and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
