Apollo-3

Dachshund · Male · Young · 3 years

Apollo, a handsome Apollo, has been a resident of the Kecskemét animal shelter since August 13, 2026. He was brought to the shelter by an animal rights activist. His past is unknown, but it is likely not a happy one, and his rescuer asked the shelter to take Apollo in and find him a loving home. He is now in one of the shelter enclosures, waiting for the kennel door to open and start a new, happy life, preferably before the cold and unpleasant winter. We are keeping our fingers crossed that this wish will come true soon. Apollo was initially shy, which is understandable. He probably didn't know that he would be given love and attention, and the loud shelter environment adds to that. However, he is slowly warming up to it and enjoys being pampered with affection and attention. He never wants to miss this and has a lot of catching up to do. He has already given his heart to the people he knows, but it takes a few minutes for him to realize that strangers mean well. Otherwise, he is a friendly and nice little guy who is easy to love. Apollo still needs to learn a few things from the dog multiplication table, but he will surely understand how the rabbit runs and catch up soon. Walking on a leash is already going great, but it's still room for improvement, but practice makes perfect. He is curious about the big, wide world outside, which he wants to explore step by step with his new people, who will give him guidance and security. He is looking forward to many beautiful hours with his new family. Apollo has no problems with his fellow dogs and is currently (September 29, 2026) being integrated into a mixed pack. Our enchanting Apollo longingly wishes for a sheltered home with empathetic and loving people, to whom he can give his trust and who will give him the security, care, love, and safety he so desperately seeks and needs. A soft bed, many caresses, beautiful walks, dog-friendly exercise, and his own people who will never leave him behind, and Apollo can finally enjoy a dignified and carefree life. Who can Apollo count on in the future? Apollo can travel from around the beginning/middle of October 2026 if he finds a home or a foster home.

About Apollo-3

What life with Apollo-3 looks like

Apollo-3 is a young adult dachshund dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Apollo-3, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Apollo-3?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Apollo-3 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Apollo-3 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Apollo-3 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Apollo-3 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Apollo-3 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
