Apollo

Pointer · Male · Young · 2 years

Gender: Male Apollo – a cautious young male dog with a sensitive nature seeks a understanding home Apollo is a young male dog, born in October 2024, with a shoulder height of approximately 40 cm and a weight of about 15–20 kg. Like his brother Adonis, he currently lives at SAWA, a private shelter with which we closely cooperate. Apollo was also found after the earthquake, hidden under a staircase at the dump – a traumatic experience that still shapes him today. He shows great caution and skepticism towards people, which is due to his past. However, Apollo is never aggressive; he is simply insecure and overwhelmed by new situations. Compared to his brother, Apollo needs a bit more time to allow closeness. With patience and a calm approach, he allows himself to be gently touched and shows that a gentle, loving soul also resides within him. His development requires people who do not expect anything but allow him to build trust at his own pace. With other dogs, Apollo is very social and uncomplicated. They give him support and orientation and are an important pillar in his daily life. Apollo seeks a quiet home with dog-experienced, patient people who give him security, structure, and time. Those who take him in will witness how a shy dog slowly blossoms and builds a deep, quiet bond. If you want to give Apollo a home, please fill out our placement form. You can also take Apollo in as a foster home. More dogs are still looking for a home... Oscar is not only friendly and open to other dogs, but also to people. Mia San wants a quiet dog bed for herself. Maya wants her own home. Milly has been waiting for her people for so long.

Wie sein Bruder Adonis lebt er aktuell bei SAWA, einem privaten Shelter , mit dem wir eng zusammenarbeiten. Apollo wurde ebenfalls nach dem Erdbeben gefunden , versteckt unter einer Treppe beim Müll – ein traumatisches Erlebnis, das ihn bis heute prägt. Er zeigt sich Menschen gegenüber sehr vorsichtig und skeptisch , was seiner Vergangenheit geschuldet ist. Dabei ist Apollo niemals aggressiv , sondern schlicht unsicher und überfordert von neuen Situationen. Im Vergleich zu seinem Bruder braucht Apollo noch etwas mehr Zeit , um Nähe zuzulassen. Mit Geduld und ruhiger Ansprache lässt er sich jedoch vorsichtig anfassen und zeigt dabei, dass auch in ihm eine sanfte, liebevolle Seele steckt. Seine Entwicklung braucht Menschen, die nichts erwarten, sondern ihm erlauben, in seinem Tempo Vertrauen aufzubauen. Mit anderen Hunden ist Apollo sehr sozial und unkompliziert . Sie geben ihm Halt und Orientierung und sind für ihn eine wichtige Stütze im Alltag. Apollo sucht ein ruhiges Zuhause bei hundeerfahrenen, geduldigen Menschen , die ihm Sicherheit, Struktur und Zeit schenken. Wer sich auf ihn einlässt, wird erleben, wie ein schüchterner Hund langsam aufblüht und eine tiefe, stille Bindung aufbaut. Wenn Sie Apollo ein Zuhause geben möchten, dann füllen Sie gerne unser Vermittlungsformular aus. Sie können Apollo auch zuerst als Pflegestelle aufnehmen. Noch mehr Hunde suchen ein Zuhause... Mia San möchte endlich ein ruhiges Körbchen für sich. Milly wartet schon so lange auf ihre Menschen. Oscar ist nicht nur Menschen, sondern auch anderen Hunden gegenüber freundlich und aufgeschlossen. Maya möchte endlich ihr eigenes Zuhause haben. jQuery(document).ready(function($) { $('-studios-carousel-elementor-91a277c').owlCarousel({ itemClass: "tailwag-carousel-item", onTranslated: tailwagDisplayPrevNav91a277c, // breakpoint from 0 up // breakpoint from 768 up // breakpoint from 1025 up function tailwagDisplayPrevNav91a277c(){ $("-studios-carousel-elementor-91a277c").addClass("tailwag-carousel-left-arrow-on"); }

About Apollo

What life with Apollo looks like

Apollo is a young adult pointer dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. in Bad Vilbel.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Apollo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Apollo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Apollo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Apollo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Apollo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Apollo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Apollo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
