Aqua

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Aqua - young mixed breed dog seeks her second chance Aqua is a young mixed breed dog currently housed in a Spanish animal shelter. Unfortunately, we do not know anything about her past; she was found on the street and brought to the shelter. Upon arrival, Aqua was in poor condition: she was struggling with parasites and was significantly underweight. It is all the more beautiful to see how well she has developed since then and that despite her difficult start, she shows her friendly and playful side. Aqua gets along well with other dogs and enjoys the company of her fellow dogs. She is still a young dog, who has her whole life ahead of her and should finally get the chance to get to know the world outside the shelter. We do not know how exactly Aqua behaves in the everyday life of a home and what she has experienced so far. Her level of education is also unknown to us. Interested parties should therefore expect that for Aqua, some things may still be new and she will have to learn the important basics of living together. What she needs for this are people who give her time, patiently guide her and show her how beautiful a home can be. As a young dog, Aqua naturally does not just want to cuddle and be cute - she needs exercise, occupation, shared experiences and people who will safely guide her through her further development. We wish for Aqua a loving home, where she can leave her difficult start behind and finally experience what a real dog life feels like. We always ask that the responsibility for a dog not be taken lightly. Nevertheless: The conscientious decision to offer a home to a dog in need also means gaining a friend for life. Here is Aqua's video. Ideally, we are looking for a home for Aqua. At the moment, however, a foster home would also be a great help and a huge improvement for Aqua's life.

About Aqua

What life with Aqua looks like

Aqua is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aqua, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aqua?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aqua on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aqua if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aqua already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aqua isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aqua and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
