adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Archies history begins like many others: About two years ago, he was found alone on the street and brought to the public shelter in Baia Mare. For a long time, he waited there for his chance, until finally, in February 2025, his big day came: Archie was allowed to travel to Germany. But unfortunately, he had to leave his home after only a few weeks because no one could muster the necessary patience. Archie is about 4 years old and with a shoulder height of around 55–60 cm, a medium-sized, wonderfully white and black puppy. What sets him apart is his great people orientation – with people he knows and trusts, he is incredibly clingy, seeks proximity, enjoys every pat, and prefers to lie on the sofa with his people. His love for his trusted people is truly touching. With other dogs and also with cats, Archie is absolutely compatible and very approachable. A confident only dog in a new home would certainly be helpful and could give him a sense of security and orientation. But outside, he shows his great vulnerability: Environmental noises and street noise still scare him. Walks outside his safe four walls unsettle him so much that he sometimes literally "freezes" and no longer wants to go on. Even car rides scare him and are a challenge. Additionally, Archie is insecure with strangers – in particular, men scare him very much at first. But he shows no aggression in any form, rather he is shy and reserved. Once he has placed his trust, however, he is an absolutely loving, loyal, and gentle companion. Housebreaking, being alone, walking on a leash, and in harness – all of this Archie masters reliably and naturally. For Archie, we wish for calm, understanding, and dog-experienced people who recognize his sensitive nature, accompany him lovingly, and give him the necessary time to gain more security step by step. Patience, empathy, and a bit of experience with insecure dogs would be the greatest gift for him. Archie is microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, dewormed, and treated for fleas and has an EU pet passport. He is up for adoption. Do you want to explain the world to Archie with patience, love, and security all over again? Then contact us and give him his deserved second chance! We thank and warmly thank Yvonne A., the namingsponsor, who gave Archie his name and thus a personal identity. As of: 28.07.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 28.07.2025

About Archie

What life with Archie looks like

Archie is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Archie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Archie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Archie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Archie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Archie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Archie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Archie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
