Adopt Ari

Mixed Breed · Female

Ari was found on Svätoplukova 23 street in Košice. She had a chip, but we couldn't reach the owner - the phone number is unavailable and no one at the address knew her. She is a communicative female dog - typical "husky character" and has her own opinion. For her age, she is more calm now, but still enjoys walks and movement. She is friendly, contactable and social. She likes people, attention and group activities. When she is happy, she shows it fully, and when something doesn't suit her, she also "speaks up" - as is typical for huskies. She gets along without problems with dogs and female dogs, but does not actively seek their company. Handling is trouble-free. She walks nicely on a leash and doesn't pull. She has good hygiene habits with regular walks, behaves politely and doesn't destroy things. As a husky, she needs regular exercise, contact with humans and clear guidance. It's not a breed for someone looking for an easygoing dog. It is suitable for people who have experience with this breed. She is looking for a home in a house with a well-insulated kennel and ideally with access to the yard, but she will be happy even in an apartment or will adjust to it without problems. HEALTH STATUS: Ari is spayed. During her stay with us, tumors were diagnosed on the mammary glands - one gland was completely removed, and from the other side, one nodule was removed so far. Histological examination confirmed a malignant tumor. The tumors were removed and she is currently free of findings, feels well and functions like a normal dog. She has a chance to live a full life, but it is necessary to consider the possibility that the disease may return.

So psami aj fenkami vychádza bez problémov, no ich spoločnosť aktívne nevyhľadáva.

About Ari

What life with Ari looks like

Ari is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at ÚVP Košice in Slovakia.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇰Adopting from Slovakia

Slovak rescue groups coordinate cross-border transport with European partners. Animals are chipped and vaccinated; sterilization is often included for adults and arranged post-adoption for puppies/kittens.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ari, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ari?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ÚVP Košice handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ari on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ari if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ÚVP Košice will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ari already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ari isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ÚVP Košice early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ari and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
