Adopt Arnošt

Unknown · Senior · 13 years

Arnošt is a 15-year-old dog who was not used to handling and contact with people, we know that in the past he bit. But after two weeks with us, we see that he likes being petted, he is learning to nicely allow himself to be leashed, to be cared for, we have to approach him slowly, taking into account his poor hearing and vision, a person must first draw his attention before touching him, but so far we perceive this as a positive change, not only we but also Arnošt looks more cheerful. We would be happy if someone takes him despite his advanced age, he will be content in a house with a garden, best with one or at most two people who will respect the above and handle him with kindness and predictability. We think that "biting incidents" were rather fear and misunderstanding, it really shows on him pure joy of contact with us.... Examination at the shelter showed a problem with the heart, so Arnošt will have an examination with a cardiologist, let's see, we will inform you.... Cardiological examination went well, everything corresponds to a normal finding at this age. Arnošt is lively, likes going for walks, or fully enjoys running freely around the shelter area. Just the person must not surprise him with unexpected, quick movements, then Arnošt may get scared and react in various ways. The owner can no longer take care of him anymore due to health reasons. This dog was brought from the municipality of Ostrata, he has a chain around his neck.

About Arnošt

What life with Arnošt looks like

Arnošt is a small senior dog waiting at Útulek Zlín-Vršava in Zlín-Zlín 12.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Frequently asked

Adopting Arnošt, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Arnošt?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Útulek Zlín-Vršava handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Arnošt on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Arnošt if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Útulek Zlín-Vršava will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Arnošt already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Arnošt isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Útulek Zlín-Vršava early rather than rehoming privately; they know Arnošt and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
