Aron

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Aron (born according to his passport in 03/2024, though we consider 2019 more plausible) arrived at his foster home in Lübeck at the beginning of July and is thawing out at his own pace. Updates to follow…Aron was born around 2019, stands roughly 40 cm tall, is defensive-avoidant and has been practically invisible for years. He belongs to the "Abandoned" – though not to the well-known 170. Aron was abandoned once before and taken in by us. We know nothing about his past. What we do know: he has been sitting in Campurelu since at least 2021. Five years in which he has known little beyond withdrawal, uncertainty and surviving in the background. When we first saw Aron, he was half hiding behind and half under his kennel. An elegant black dog trying to be invisible. On repeated visits, we had the impression that he was slowly beginning to gain a little confidence. To give him even more security and open up the chance for a better life, we moved him to the Stefan Shelter, where he was to receive targeted training. But there it became clear that Aron could not cope at all with the trainer and the active attempts at handling him. For him, every bit of pressure means pure stress – with Aron, everything must now start over from the very beginning. We are now deliberately giving him "room to breathe" and the time he urgently needs.Update February 2026: Aron is still anxious. He no longer flees, but he freezes. For him, this is progress. He does not move forward, shows no aggression. He is simply a dog who has never learned that people can mean safety. What Aron needs now: He is looking for extremely patient, sensitive and above all experienced people who expect nothing from him at first. People who do not pressure him, but give him space. People who understand that trust cannot be worked toward with him, but must be allowed. He needs a place where he may arrive without having to function. A place where he may simply be. A place where he – perhaps for the first time in his life – feels that he is safe. Aron needs a complete fresh start. A confident first-time dog can be very helpful in this.We are looking for an experienced foster or forever home for Aron that brings the "necessary experience" and shows Aron what living with people can be like!Aron is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and will be rehomed with a protection contract following a positive pre-screening.General note about our dogs: Our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can continually reassess their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us greatly in conveying as accurate a picture as possible of each individual dog. Nevertheless, we would like to point out that a dog in a new environment – with new people, new routines and new impressions – may show itself differently. This is entirely normal and part of every process of change. Many dogs open up even faster at home and show sides that were not visible at the shelter at all. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but are no guarantee of every behavior in the new environment. They are meant to provide orientation and show how the dog presents itself at the shelter – and what potential lies within it.We are convinced that with patience, understanding and a loving environment, every dog can find its way and continue to develop positively.

Was wir wissen: Er sitzt seit mindestens 2021 in Campurelu.

About Aron

What life with Aron looks like

Aron is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aron, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aron?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aron on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aron if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Aron already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aron isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aron and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
