adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this dog now! Arthur has found a home! His story: Arthur was brought to the shelter in Bistrita by the Dog Catchers. We don't know his backstory, but his gaze speaks volumes. For dogs like Arthur, a noisy, hectic shelter is not a good place to overcome their fears. Arthur is very, very shy and carries a deep melancholy that touches the heart. At his estimated two years old, Arthur is a medium-sized male dog weighing around 20 to 25 kg. His dense, beautiful fur suggests that herding dog genes might be in his ancestry. His behavior towards other dogs and cats has not been tested yet. Arthur is not a dog for spontaneous cuddles or action lovers. He needs people who can bring patience and time to give him all the world in time to build trust. A quiet, structured environment without much chaos is essential, as he would be overwhelmed by a hectic environment. Ideally, his new owners should have experience with shy dogs, but a willingness to provide professional support (dog training classes/trainers) is equally important. We cannot rule out herding or guard dog genes in Arthur. What Arthur needs most is a safe haven and the assurance that his shyness will be accepted. He will be a quiet, loyal companion for the people who can prove to him that the world is not just made of fear but also of security. Arthur travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated to his new home. He also has his EU pet passport in his luggage. Even a foster home would be a good start for the handsome Arthur to a better life. Will you give Arthur the home his big, sad heart so desperately needs? Thank you Sonnic, with your nametag sponsorship, you have given Arthur his first identity. Thank you Torsten W.! You are supporting Arthur with a monthly sponsorship! A big thank you also goes to Ute P., who has taken on a monthly sponsorship for Arthur. As of: 06.12.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Arthur

What life with Arthur looks like

Arthur is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Arthur, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Arthur?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Arthur on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Arthur if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Arthur already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Arthur isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Arthur and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
