Adopt Asaya

Podenco · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Asaya has found her home and her people in Spain. She now lives with a pair who already had a Podenca from the animal shelter. When their Podenca passed away, they decided to take in Asaya, who now lives with a Galga and a cat, both also from the shelter. The big question Asaya is currently grappling with: dog crate, sofa, or chair? Her people are happy with her, and the first photos speak for themselves: Asaya is doing very well. We wish her a long and safe dog life. Thank you to everyone who accompanied Asaya with good thoughts or a donation. Special thanks to the Clover Patent Trio: Asaya was supported by her sponsors Maria & Ilka & Angela. Helping with a sponsorship also aids in taking in Asaya Podenccomix. Gender: (w) neutered. Color: red-whiteBorn: ~ 30.12.2022Shoulder height: 39 cm  Asaya – a young Podenca with a special story Asaya came to the animal shelter with her siblings and mother Asadeh. The female dog was noble, sighted over a large area for an extended period but was never caught. She stayed in a vast terrain that included both heavily trafficked roads and abandoned lots. She consistently avoided contact with people. Only through targeted observation, a lot of patience, and a special form of communication could her location be finally pinpointed – a protected hiding spot between wooden pallets and brush. On December 30th, Asadeh gave birth to her puppies in this spot. Only a few days after birth, it was finally possible to catch the mother dog and her litter and bring them to safety.

About Asaya

What life with Asaya looks like

Asaya is a large puppy/kitten podenco dog waiting at Podenco in Not in Rieden am Forggensee.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Asaya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Asaya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Podenco in Not handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Asaya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Asaya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Podenco in Not will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Asaya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Asaya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Podenco in Not early rather than rehoming privately; they know Asaya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
