Astra

German Shepherd · Female · Adult · 6 years

Astra is a real treasure. She arrived at the Beli Manastir animal shelter heavily pregnant and gave birth to her 11 puppies there, whom she cared for very well. She did an amazing job and many of the little treasures owe their survival to Astra. Of course, Astra still needs to learn to live in a house, but we are sure that our clever treasure will learn that quickly. Astra has been dewormed multiple times, is vaccinated (rabies and combination), has a microchip, and has an EU pet passport. Astra is a wonderful dog with a great character, she deserves to move into a loving home now. Astra is spayed. Currently, Astra lives in Beli Manastir/Croatia. She is now on a leash and enjoys her rare walks very much. Astra is very people-oriented, and the "will to please" that is typical of shepherds is very pronounced in her.

Aktuell lebt Astra in Beli Manastir/ Kroatien. Mittlerweile ist sie leinenführig und genießt die seltenen Spaziergänge sehr. Astra ist sehr menschenbezogen, der den Schäferhunden eigene „will to please“ ist bei ihr sehr ausgeprägt.

About Astra

What life with Astra looks like

Astra is an adult german shepherd dog waiting at Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. in Linden.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Astra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Astra?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Astra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Astra if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Astra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Astra isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Astra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
