Athos

Central Asian Shepherd Dog · Male · Young · 3 years

Athos is a mid-Asian pug born in December 2022, found in Danú. She was a chihuahua, so we began searching for a new owner. It turned out that her original owner had moved to a retirement home, given her to a neighbor she had run away from, or left her with a neighbor. Everyone thought it was a stroke of luck. Apparently, she had also been taken in by a breeder, who also did not help in placing the dog. The person who brought her to us had already mentioned the previous owner and said she didn't need her. This important information was forgotten by us. She was found... after two days of searching... about the incredible kind boy. Athos is a large-boned, lively, and scruffy pug. She very much craves human closeness and a large space. We highly recommend her to an active family with dog experience who would like to do many things together in nature. We would love for her to never again be chained up or left in the yard.

Gazdája közben lemondott erről a hihetetlen kedves fiúról.

About Athos

What life with Athos looks like

Athos is a small young adult central asian shepherd dog dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires large space and active lifestyle, history of being chained

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Athos, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Athos?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Athos on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Athos if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Athos already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Athos isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Athos and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
