Atlanta (a76)

Female

ATLANTA (A76) — a free-roaming cat from Morcinka Street. When I first arrived at the shelter, I was just a shadow of my former self. I kept my distance from people, avoided physical contact, and didn’t seek anyone’s company. For most of my life, I’d managed perfectly well on my own. Humans were somewhere around, but never truly close. Then illness struck. A tumor took away my sense of security and turned my life upside down. I underwent surgery, lost part of my ear, and the shelter became my temporary home. It seemed I’d always remain the cat who chose solitude. But then something extraordinary happened. Weeks passed, then months. Slowly, I began to discover that a human hand didn’t have to mean danger. That petting could be pleasant. That it was possible to feel safe by someone’s side. Today, I’m a completely different cat. I come running for affection, snuggle up against my caregivers, and purr loudly when they give me their attention. I can calmly sit in a person’s lap and enjoy their presence. This is a transformation no one expected from me. I’m still calm and gentle. I use the litter box without any trouble, cause minimal fuss, and don’t need much. I dream of only one thing—my own home and a human I can trust forever. If you’re looking for a cat who’ll show you just how powerful patience, love, and giving a second chance can be, maybe I’m waiting precisely for you. ul. ATLANTA (A76) - kotka wolno żyjąca z ul. Morcinka. Kiedy trafiłam do schroniska, byłam cieniem kota. Nadal jestem spokojna i delikatna. About Atlanta (a76)

What life with Atlanta (a76) looks like

Atlanta (a76) is a adult cat waiting at Schronisko Kielce in Kielce.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Atlanta (a76), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Atlanta (a76)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Kielce handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Atlanta (a76) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Atlanta (a76) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Kielce will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Atlanta (a76) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Atlanta (a76) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Kielce early rather than rehoming privately; they know Atlanta (a76) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
