Autumn Duck Race 2026

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

On Sunday 6th September 2026 we will once again see 1000 yellow ducks head down the river at Swan Meadows in Abergavenny to help the dogs at Hope Rescue. The ducks will launch from the road bridge over the river, then travel downstream, navigating boulders, steep drops and pond weeds before being collected by our team of Hope Rescue volunteers (don't forget your wellies guys!). Each duck costs £1 and the first across the finish line is the winner. You are most welcome to come along to cheer on your duck, but you don't have to be present on the day to take part. Our team of volunteers will make sure that they capture the fastest duckie swim across the finish line. Don't forget, the lucky winner will get the prize of £100. All duck numbers will be emailed out prior to the race and EVERY single duck will be caught in our nets to prevent them travelling any further. New for 2026, we are inviting local businesses to get involved by sponsoring a duck. Sponsorship just £10 per duck and in return your business name will be listed on our event page here on our website, which attracts 4,000 visitors per month AND if your duck wins you will be tagged on our social media pages, which has a combined reach of over 130,000 people. About Autumn Duck Race 2026

What life with Autumn Duck Race 2026 looks like

Autumn Duck Race 2026 is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Hope Rescue in Pontyclun.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Autumn Duck Race 2026, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Autumn Duck Race 2026?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Autumn Duck Race 2026 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Autumn Duck Race 2026 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Autumn Duck Race 2026 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Autumn Duck Race 2026 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Autumn Duck Race 2026 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
