Adopt Azorek

Labrador Retriever · Male

AZOREK - a dog rescued from extremely poor conditions. Azorek is a pup just learning about the world. For a long time, he was confined in a too-small kennel run, isolated from humans and daily stimuli. His contact with people was sporadic, and he had no walks or excursions in his life. This experience significantly impacted his current behavior and functioning. Today, Azorek regularly goes on walks, which has noticeably helped reduce his level of tension, but he still has a high-energy dog. He barks a lot and reacts very vigilantly to new people, needing time to accept someone. In stressful situations, he may use warning signals, so he requires a caregiver who can read dog communication and respect his boundaries. Walking is a significant challenge for Azorka. He walks on the leash chaotically, pulls, and reacts intensely to his surroundings. This is not due to "bad will," but rather a lack of early experiences and an overload of stimuli he is still learning to handle. Similarly, in interactions with other dogs, forming connections comes with difficulty and requires a calm, controlled introduction. Azorek is not a dog for everyone. He will find his best match with an experienced, patient, and consistent person ready for ongoing behavioral work. He needs a predictable environment, clear rules, and time to gradually build a sense of security. This is a dog with a difficult past but also with the potential for improving his quality of life. With proper guidance, regular exercise, and calm support, Azorek has the chance to learn how to function in a world he previously did not know. For formal reasons, Azorek cannot yet be adopted. ul. Nawiązywanie kontaktów przychodzi mu z pewnym trudem i wymaga spokojnego, kontrolowanego wprowadzania. Azorek nie jest psem dla każdego. Najlepiej odnajdzie się u osoby doświadczonej, cierpliwej i konsekwentnej, gotowej na dalszą pracę behawioralną. Potrzebuje przewidywalnego środowiska, jasnych zasad oraz czasu, by stopniowo budować poczucie bezpieczeństwa.

About Azorek

What life with Azorek looks like

Azorek is a adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Schronisko Kielce in Kielce.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Azorek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Azorek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Kielce handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Azorek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Azorek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Kielce will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Azorek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Azorek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Kielce early rather than rehoming privately; they know Azorek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
