adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Baby can stay forever in his foster home! His story: 22399 Hamburg. Our Baby carries his big heart not only in his chest but also visibly on his body. Despite being so young, Baby has already endured so much as a little puppy. Our Romanian animal rescuer Raluca came across a sad and heart-wrenching scene when she discovered a barely 4-5 month old puppy limping on three legs. It was likely hit by a car and left to its fate. And now, this beautiful young boy can finally start a pain-free future with sparkling eyes and full of youthful energy. Thanks to a loving foster home, he was able to travel to Germany and also undergo the important bone-preserving surgery successfully. His world is finally colorful and big, and he is looking forward to exploring it. Together with his people, he will learn, experience adventures, and enjoy many cuddles. Baby still needs a little patience. He is slowly getting used to the brace and wears an additional sock for protection. Finally, he can enjoy life on four legs and with regular physiotherapy, he can leave his past behind. Despite all the hardships in his short life, Baby is super friendly to people. He loves being stroked and is totally playful. Fear is a foreign word to him; nothing can scare him. He is interested in everything, especially things that are perfect for gnawing. With the female dog in the house, he gets along great. He guards the house and property very diligently. To allow Baby to enter the next life phase with play and fun, learning and wonderful nature walks, we are looking for his people, with whom he can share his heart. We would also be happy if a foster home wanted to start the adventure of "life" with him. Currently, he has a shoulder height of 62 cm and weighs 25 kg. Due to his appearance, we cannot completely rule out that he might have some hat or kitchen guard dog genes. We wish Baby all the happiness in the world, so that he can enjoy a positive life. He is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and in possession of an EU pet passport. Since mid-February 2024, he has a castration chip. If you have any questions about him, please don't hesitate to contact us! Many thanks to Silke P., you have done a lot of good by taking on the name sponsorship of his. As of April 1.

Stand: 01.04.2024

About Baby

What life with Baby looks like

Baby is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Baby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Baby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Baby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Baby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Baby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Baby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Baby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
