Adopt BABY

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Estimated birthdate: April 2025 Brief info: cheerful, athletic, curious, people-oriented, cuddly, family+, older children+, female dogs+, male dogs+, cats+ Once again, one of those incredible stories. The puppies estimated to be born around the end of April 2025, BABY and her buddy or possibly her brother Benny, unfortunately shared a fate that many dogs in Hungary face. Their owners had abandoned the rented house they were in and simply left, without taking BABY and Benny with them, as there was no room for them in the new home or they simply didn't care about them. The two puppy siblings were left alone without anyone taking care of them. Fortunately, neighbors eventually noticed the heartbreaking fate of the dogs and informed the animal shelter in mid-October 2025. The shelter staff then contacted the relevant authorities, who removed the two already half-starved puppies from the completely neglected house. So, the two severely emaciated and in a very poor condition puppies managed to arrive just in time at the shelter's care and are now finally receiving proper care. At the shelter, the two fur-noses, understandably at first, were shy and uncertain, but they immediately greedily devoured the offered food. And soon they realized that no one there wants to harm them, and so they now show themselves to be friendly, lively, playful, and now also life-loving young puppies, who are overjoyed by any human attention and affection. BABY gets along problemlessly with her fellow animals and likes to play with them. And even in the meeting with the test cat, she showed a friendly attitude, so that with time and patience, she could also be accustomed to living with indoor cats. Since the parentage is unknown, their final size cannot be predicted, but we think that BABY will grow to be medium to large. For the charming BABY, we are looking for adventurous people with dog experience who are willing to embark on the "puppy" adventure – with everything that comes with it: playing, snuggling, toiling, but of course also training and mentally and physically challenging, so that the wonderful little girl dog develops into a wonderful and pleasant travel companion. BABY will be microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and with an EU pet passport for her new home. Have you fallen in love with the cute little puppy? Then we look forward to your message!. This is a young, adolescent dog.

About BABY

What life with BABY looks like

BABY is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pfotenretter Ungarn in Pfotenretter.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting BABY, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BABY?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenretter Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BABY on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BABY if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenretter Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is BABY already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BABY isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenretter Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know BABY and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
