Adopt Baila

European Shorthair · Female · Kitten · 6 months

"Baila" is a shy kitten who came to us with her siblings "Belia" and "Brodie". They had no contact with people before coming to us. Here at the animal shelter, she is learning that people do not want to harm her. When around strangers, ".Baila" clearly shows that she is very scared by hissing. Since she always lies with her sister "Belia" and the two always look for each other, they will only be rehomed together. We are looking for patient people for ".Baila" and "Belia", who will give them the time they need to come out of their shell. Ideally, they would be rehomed with an existing social cat who can show them that everything is okay and that they do not need to be afraid. ".Baila" and "Belia" are looking for a home suitable for apartment living with a secured balcony.

About Baila

What life with Baila looks like

Baila is a large puppy/kitten european shorthair cat waiting at BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof in Germany.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Baila, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Baila?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Baila on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Baila if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Baila already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Baila isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof early rather than rehoming privately; they know Baila and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
