Bailey

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

We have been asked if we could help find Bailey a beautiful 10 month old a new home as a matter of urgency. Her owners adopted her through a private adoption when she was brought over from Romania three months ago believed to be around 7 months of age, she’s a medium size and around 25kg. Her owners explain that, Bailey is such a loving, affectionate girl. 95% of the time she is an absolute sweetheart, full of energy, cuddles, silliness, and she gives the best love. She has come such a long way in the short time we have had her, and we are so proud of her progress. But recently, Bailey has started to show more and more aggressive behaviour towards our other dog, mainly around space guarding and resource guarding. She is also a very anxious girl, and this anxiety has become much more noticeable as she has settled in with us. Over time it has come out more in her, despite everything we have tried to help her feel secure. We have put a lot of time, effort, and love into her training and behaviour, and we have truly tried everything we can. Unfortunately, we are no longer seeing improvements, and this is now causing issues with our other 10 year old dog. This has progressively got worse, it started with just bones, which was easy to manage, but following an unfortunate incident at doggy day care (where they locked her in a room for quiet time and she panicked), she has started space guarding from our dog. She cannot be kept in crates/kennels etc. now without panicking. She is now attacking him if he tries to enter the same room. Yesterday was the worst attack yet, that resulted in a vet visit. She is a very good girl when she has space around her. She is excellent at jumping and has cleared some very large fences, so a secure garden is important. Although she is very comfortable in her home environment and does not choose to leave, even when on the scent of a bird or cat! Bailey is VERY loving. She loves cuddles, so the perfect home would allow her to have some creature comforts, such as allowed on sofas for cuddles. She thinks shes a lap dog. Bailey has been left with free run of downstairs and is happy snoozing on the sofa for 2-3 hours. She has been walked by a dog walker and until recently enjoyed going to doggy daycare regularly. She’s brilliant around the owners horses and sheep and good with other livestock. She hasn’t spent time with children but her owners think that with her loving nature towards humans she would be happy with teenagers. They believe that she would chase cats so we won’t be Rehoming her to a home with a cat. She finished her first season 4 weeks ago so her behaviour escalating with their resident dog could be related to her hormonal changes but we still feel that she would be happier in an only dog home where she just meets dog friends out on walks. Bailey has her pet passport and her vaccinations, flea and worm treatments are all up to date. She travels really well on the back seat of the car in a safety belt and harness. She’s learning several commands and her recall is coming along but obviously needs work as with any young GSP. The resident male has been staying with a family member and since he moved she has been much happier without him around. If you feel you can offer this young girl the confidence and further training that she would love, Please contact us. Bailey is currently in the Chesterfield area and will be rehomed either her free Agria insurance and our Adoption Contract. About Bailey

What life with Bailey looks like

Bailey is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at GSP Rescue UK in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bailey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bailey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. GSP Rescue UK handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bailey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bailey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — GSP Rescue UK will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bailey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bailey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with GSP Rescue UK early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bailey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
