Bailey

Poodle Β· Female Β· Adult Β· 4 years

Bailey is a sweet girl who has come to us from a breeder and is now in foster, where she is showing us just how loving she can be once she learns to trust you. When she first arrived, she was very worried and unsure about being handled, but she has made lovely progress. Bailey will happily come over for strokes and cuddles when you are sitting down, although she can still be nervous if approached from a standing position and may run away. She can also bark at new visitors initially, but settles quickly and will accept fuss from them once she feels more comfortable. Bailey absolutely loves other dogs and relies heavily on them for comfort and reassurance. She can be a little selective when first meeting new dogs, but once she gets to know them, she enjoys their company and seems to have a particular soft spot for poodle breeds! She will need at least one kind resident dog in her new home to help her continue building her confidence and feel safe as she settles in. Bailey has settled well into foster life and has been clean both day and night, asking to go outside when she needs to toilet. She sleeps in the kitchen with the other dogs and, although she was unsettled for the first few nights, she now settles nicely. She can also be left for a few hours without being destructive. Her adopters should be aware that she may need a little time to adjust to a new routine and could have some accidents initially. Bailey takes treats very nicely, eats well and is happy to share her food with her doggy friends. Food is definitely the way to her heart! Lead training has started in foster, but she is still quite worried, so this will need to be introduced slowly and gently as she gains confidence. Bailey will need an experienced home with adopters who understand nervous ex-breeding dogs and have the time and patience to let her settle at her own pace. We feel she could live with dog-savvy children aged 13+ who understand that she needs space and should never be rushed. She has also met cats and is very curious about them but does not chase, so she may be able to live with cats following careful introductions. Bailey is such a loving girl once she gets to know you, and we have no doubt that, with the right family, she will become your little shadow, following you around and asking for all the strokes and cuddles she can get! She still has some confidence to build, but she has already come such a long way, and we would love to see her find an experienced family who will give her the time and understanding she needs to blossom. Bailey has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Bailey

What life with Bailey looks like

Bailey is an adult poodle dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bailey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bailey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bailey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bailey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Bailey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bailey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bailey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
