Bailey

Vizsla Β· Male Β· Senior Β· 9 years

Bailey is a much loved boy who is looking for a new home through no fault of his own. Changed living circumstances (including several recent house moves and a growing young family) means he is struggling to relax at home, although overall he is a polite and well behaved lad. He enjoys being outdoors and is good with other dogs, he has good recall and is a joy to walk, and he is okay with livestock, horses, and cats. Although quite a senior boy, people always comment on his youthful and energetic nature, and he is in general very good health. He has had a number of fatty lumps removed in the past; one small one remains (on his chest) with vet advice being just to monitor. Bailey enjoys a close bond with his owner. He could be happy as a solo dog or as a companion for an existing dog. We are looking for a relaxed and calm child free household where Bailey can enjoy offlead walks and play but where there is also ample time for affection and snuggles. We think Bailey would do best living with a single woman, or with a female couple. Bailey is currently living in Hampshire, he can be rehomed to anywhere in the UK, but prospective adopters should be willing to travel to meet him. Please contact Kirsten Lorrain-Smith for more information about Bailey.

About Bailey

What life with Bailey looks like

Bailey is a small senior vizsla dog waiting at Hungarian Vizsla Welfare Charity in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bailey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bailey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hungarian Vizsla Welfare Charity handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bailey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bailey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Hungarian Vizsla Welfare Charity will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Bailey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bailey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hungarian Vizsla Welfare Charity early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bailey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
