Teddy

Vizsla · Male · Adult · 6 years

Teddy is a friendly boy who has been with one of our trainers in Scotland for behavioural assessment, and is now ready to move on to his forever home. He is crate trained and sleeps happily in his crate overnight. He loves being offlead to run and explore, and he has excellent recall. He has shown no problems with our trainer, and is now looking for a confident and experienced owner. He is fit and healthy, he gets on well with other well mannered dogs, and he’s looking for active outdoorsy adopters who can meet his exercise and continued training needs. We are looking for a child-free home for Teddy, as he didn’t really get on with the children in his previous home. (He never did anything more than give a few low level growls, but we are pretty sure that he really wouldn’t be keen on living with children again.) Teddy is e-collar trained – positively conditioned as a low-level recall cue – and we would be happy for an adopter experienced in ethical low-level e-collar training to continue this with him. Teddy is currently in Scotland, he can be rehomed to anywhere in the UK, but prospective adopters should be willing to travel to meet him. Please contact Lucy Seamons for more information about Teddy.

About Teddy

What life with Teddy looks like

Teddy is an adult vizsla dog waiting at Hungarian Vizsla Welfare Charity in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Teddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Teddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hungarian Vizsla Welfare Charity handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Teddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Teddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hungarian Vizsla Welfare Charity will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Teddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Teddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hungarian Vizsla Welfare Charity early rather than rehoming privately; they know Teddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
