Adopt Baksi & Enissa

Unknown · Young · 3 years

Enissa (female) came back to us with her partner Baksi (male) because it was no longer possible to provide them with a humane husbandry. Enissa came to us as a found animal in 2021, while Baksi originally came from Hungary. They got to know and love each other in their last home. We will only place them as a pair. Both are open and curious towards humans. Since both belong to the breed "Ram," special attention must be paid to their ears, as this breed is at a high risk for ear infections due to a practice that causes ear problems. So far, they have not been affected. Enissa has a so-called wave bite and should be regularly presented to a veterinarian for control and, if necessary, correction. At the moment, they are in indoor housing. If you are interested, please contact us via e-mail () and add a few photos of your enclosure directly.

About Baksi & Enissa

What life with Baksi & Enissa looks like

Baksi & Enissa is a small young adult rabbit waiting at Tierheim Düsseldorf in Düsseldorf.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

Note from the shelter: Requires regular veterinary checks for ear health due to lop breed predisposition to ear infections. Enissa has wavy teeth requiring regular dental monitoring and potential correction.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Baksi & Enissa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Baksi & Enissa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Düsseldorf handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Baksi & Enissa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Baksi & Enissa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Düsseldorf will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Baksi & Enissa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Baksi & Enissa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Düsseldorf early rather than rehoming privately; they know Baksi & Enissa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
