Baloo is a special Labrador-Sharpei mix, born in January 2015. He has been medically cleared, but still needs surgery for entropion in both eyes. Most importantly, Baloo needs something no veterinarian can provide: a family that gives him love, patience, and peace. Baloo has endured ten long years of abuse. Thanks to the police, his old life is behind him, but the scars of his past take time to heal. His joy is still small, his strength somewhat diminished — and yet, a soft glimmer of hope remains within him. After just a few days in the shelter, he began to cautiously follow the volunteer, seeking warmth and closeness. He does this in a quiet way: he stays nearby, but never pushes himself. If you pet him, he still trembles, and he doesn't show joy yet. He has a very calm and obedient nature. He gets along with all the dogs in the shelter and leaves them alone rather than seeking them out. Baloo is not afraid to live — he's only afraid of feeling pain again. And that's why he's looking for a family that will give him the time he needs to flourish again. For Baloo, we're looking for an adopter who has a lot of patience and can gently guide Baloo back to trust, so he can learn that people can also be loving. With the right family, Baloo can learn that a warm hand doesn't hurt, but offers comfort. That a house can be a home. And that he can finally, after ten years, start living for real. Baloo is een bijzondere Labrador–Sharpei kruising, geboren in januari 2015. Hij is medisch gezond verklaard, al heeft hij nog een operatie nodig voor entropion aan beide ogen. Maar vooral heeft Baloo iets nodig wat geen dierenarts kan geven: een gezin dat hem liefde, geduld en rust schenkt. Baloo heeft tien lange jaren van mishandeling doorstaan. Dankzij de politie is zijn oude leven nu achter hem gelaten, maar de littekens van zijn verleden dragen tijd nodig om te helen. Zijn vreugde is nog klein, zijn kracht wat afgenomen — en toch schuilt er in hem een zacht straaltje hoop. Al na een paar dagen in het asiel begon hij voorzichtig de vrijwilligster te volgen, op zoek naar warmte en nabijheid. Hij doet dat op een rustige manier: hij blijft in de buurt, maar dringt zich nooit op. Aai je hem, dan trilt hij nog, en vreugde toont hij nog niet. Hij heeft een zeer rustig karakter en is volgzaam. Hij kan met alle honden in het asiel en laat ze eerder met rust dan ze echt op te zoeken. Baloo is niet bang om te leven — hij is alleen bang om opnieuw pijn te voelen. En daarom zoekt hij een gezin dat hem de tijd gunt die hij nodig heeft om weer te bloeien.
