Bandit &#8211

Mixed Breed · Male

European Shorthair – EKH * ca. 2011 – red-striped with white patches – male – neutered, suitable for apartment living with a secured balcony or safe outdoor run, gets along with fellow animals. Otherwise: — in the animal shelter since: December 2024. Bandit came to us as a found kitten from a community garden complex, unfortunately not marked, and no one reported him missing. When Bandit arrived with us, he was in a very poor condition, severely emaciated, had diarrhea, and barely ate anything. We had to place him in a foster home for better observation and to help him gain weight. A blood test showed that Bandit had elevated liver enzyme levels at that time, but he is otherwise healthy and tested negative for FIV, FIP, and leukemia. In the meantime, Bandit has recovered very well, is eating again, and has become much more active and lively. He is an attached tomcat who likes to headbutt and talk to someone, but he also has his own mind and can show when something doesn’t suit him. We assume that he has joint problems because his life is currently only on the ground, and he doesn’t like to jump anywhere. At his foster home, he is now so well integrated and gets along so well with the other cats there that he is allowed to stay there. We are thrilled that Bandit feels so comfortable there. Since the animal shelter is still responsible for the ongoing costs of Bandit, we would be very happy if someone would take over his paternity. With the help of paternity, you can especially help our older and no longer adoptable cats, as your support allows us to provide them with a comfortable life at a foster home and to cover the remaining costs. About Bandit &#8211

What life with Bandit &#8211 looks like

Bandit &#8211 is a extra-large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Göppingen in Göppingen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bandit &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bandit &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Göppingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bandit &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bandit &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Göppingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bandit &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bandit &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Göppingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bandit &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
