Adopt Bärbel

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Name: Bärbel Breed: mixed breed Born: 05.02.2020 Health: neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and tested negative for MMK shoulder height: 40 - 45 cm. Weight: 15 kg Location: foster home in postcode 85395 This is the female dog Bärbel. Bärbel always lived in a kennel with only water and bread and without exercise. Bärbel became overweight and has since been on a diet, losing weight down to 15 kg. After leaving the kennel, poor Bärbel then spent time in the Forest of Horror. From there she was rescued and cared for by our animal protectors. She is a very sweet and quiet female dog. Initially, she is shy around strangers until trust is built up. This may take some time. Bärbel had a very sad dog life before being rescued from the WdG. It's therefore understandable that she is timid until she gains trust. It would be lovely if she could have a second dog in her future home as well. This gives her security and helps build trust. She gets along great with fellow animals and loves to play with them. Who will give Bärbel a life in a family possibly with a second dog, lots of love, patience, and understanding, and accompany her on her further life journey? She deserves it after everything she has been through. Contact: Heike: .

About Bärbel

What life with Bärbel looks like

Bärbel is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bärbel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bärbel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bärbel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bärbel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bärbel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bärbel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bärbel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
