Barbossa

Mixed Breed · Male

Barbossa – a dog who has gone through a real horror... and yet still loves people with his whole heart. What happened to Barbossa is hard to describe in words. He got caught in a trap and in a desperate fight for life tried to free himself. He was running through the village with a terribly mangled paw that was hanging... We don't know exactly how long he suffered or what exactly happened. He was caught - already without a paw, with an open wound and a bone sticking out. It's a true horror. It's hard for us to imagine how much pain this brave dog must have endured. Today, Barbossa has already had surgery. Everything is healing beautifully, and he himself feels very good. It's amazing how quickly dogs can adapt to new conditions - Barbossa is doing great on three legs. What is he like? Wonderful. Gentle. Extremely gentle. He loves the company of other dogs and greets a person with great joy. There is no anger in his eyes - there is only hope and a need for closeness. Despite everything he has been through, he still trusts. Of course, he won't be a companion for long, demanding trips. Long walks are not for him. But a quiet stroll, a soft couch, and a loving person by his side - that's his greatest dream. He really doesn't need much. He just needs a home. A safe one. Forever. We beg you - share. Let's find a wonderful home for him that will show him that the world can also be good. Don't let him be alone after all this. If you can give him love - respond. Barbossa is waiting.

To prawdziwy horror. On naprawdę nie potrzebuje wiele. Potrzebuje tylko domu. Bezpiecznego. Barbossa czeka.

About Barbossa

What life with Barbossa looks like

Barbossa is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Czekadełko in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Barbossa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Barbossa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Czekadełko handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Barbossa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Barbossa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Czekadełko will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Barbossa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Barbossa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Czekadełko early rather than rehoming privately; they know Barbossa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
