Barnabus

Jack Russell Terrier · Male · Young · 1 year

Barnabus would cope in a reasonably busy household and would like to have a garden in his new home that he can potter about in and practice his house-training! He can be left alone for up to 4hrs but would prefer for this to be built up while he settles in. He would love an active family that is able to keep him mentally and physically stimulated as he is a young terrier, but at the same time, loves a cuddle on the sofa at the end of the day too. Meet handsome boy, Barnabus. Barnabus is a 1.5-year old Jack Russell Terrier looking for his forever home! Barnabus is able to live with another dog in the home, pending a successful meet in the centre. Barnabus would also be happy to share his home with sensible children of secondary school age+. He is a super sweet boy, who loves his walks and is fantastic on lead. He's happy with all sorts of handling and loves to play with his toys! He would really suit an active home with owners that can take him on lots of fun adventures and keep his brain nice and busy! Barnabus is a sweet natured boy who would love a cwtchy sofa to curl up on with his people after a long day of fun activities. He can be quite bouncy, and is very typical of his breed so would love owners that are familiar with the terrier breed. We can't wait to see this handsome chappy in his forever home!

About Barnabus

What life with Barnabus looks like

Barnabus is a young adult jack russell terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Barnabus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Barnabus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Barnabus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Barnabus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Barnabus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Barnabus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Barnabus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
