Norm

Chihuahua · Male · Adult · 4 years

Norms' personality is starting to shine here at the centre. Becoming braver by the day and enjoying his sniffy walks. However, he is missing his home comforts. When he knows you, he'll be your best friend and loves a good cwtch and cuddle. He loves his soft toys, and enjoys his food too. He's a wonderful little companion that enjoys a little sniff about on his walks! He needs a bit of reminding with his house-training but walks beautifully on lead and is happy with all handling once he knows you. He's such a little gem, and we can't wait for him to be back with his home comforts. Meet the wonderful Norm! Norm is a 4-year old Chihuahua X Pomeranian; a sweet and sensitive little man who is looking for someone who can show him the ropes and bring out his confidence. He is looking for a home with older secondary school aged children, who are able to see when he needs some space. He could live with cats in the home and can make dog friends while out and about, but isn't too fussed on living with another dog. Norm would need his leaving hours built up slowly to make sure he is comfortable in the home, so would prefer owners who are around for most of the day to help him settle in. Norm is a real sweetheart who loves to play with his toys! He loves a fuss once he knows his people, but can be a little worried by visitors in the home so would prefer a quieter environment.

About Norm

What life with Norm looks like

Norm is a adult chihuahua dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Norm, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Norm?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Norm on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Norm if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Norm already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Norm isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Norm and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
