Bart

Mixed Breed · Male

Ay Caramba, here comes Bart! A young Griffon mix is waiting at the animal shelter La Sonrisa Peluda in Malaga for a second chance. The previous owners of this two-year-old (as of 03/2022) male dog tried to inform our partner in Malaga that they no longer wanted to keep their dog, but they couldn't reach him due to a phone failure - and so they simply brought the confused teenager to the public kennel five months ago. Fortunately, the animal welfare workers found out about Barts fate, and so he was able to move from the Perrera to the private animal shelter of our friends. Unfortunately, it's not known why the family, who lived with the cheerful and energetic hunting dog mix, decided to get rid of their pet. In the animal shelter, the child-friendly and highly intelligent charmer definitely shows his best side. Bart is eager to learn and clever, attentive and loves every kind of physical activity. Bart is a typical Griffon, who looks for a team in his humans. Griffons are not like herding dogs, who blindly obey every command. As a hunting dog, the Griffon is made to make confident decisions, but also rely completely on his two-legged partner. Bart is still young, and we can well imagine that he had to leave his home because he required too much attention. Working dogs, whether hunting or herding dogs, find their own mental stimulation if it isn't provided - and therefore we wish for the cheerful puppy now owners who are aware of their responsibility. Bart dreams of a life by the side of a motivated and athletic person, who challenges him, supports him and enjoys well-earned rest after training. Bart would certainly excel in any type of dog sport, and as a Griffon mix, he would definitely shine in nose work. In addition, Bart loves ball games in the garden, also with the two-legged offspring - and he knows how to appreciate a tummy massage on the couch after the sporting part of the day. Bart is a dream dog for active and humorous people who have enough time for an energy bundle like him. He knows the life in the family and in the house and is actually just waiting for a home that is aware that a hunting dog, no matter how cute he may look, is always a working animal that is not suitable as a couch pillow ... If you are often outside, like to work purposefully with your dog, if you love to have a cold nose pushed into your face, if you are five minutes late for a walk or want to sleep in the morning - if you can laugh at small hairy mud monsters and also enjoy walking through the fields in wind and weather, then Bart is YOUR dog, and you should hurry to let him know!. This is a young, adolescent dog.

About Bart

What life with Bart looks like

Bart is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bart, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bart?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bart on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bart if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bart already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bart isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bart and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
