Adopt Bauernhofkatzen/Mäusefänger

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 5 years

Gender: male and female neutered and microchipped: yes Coat color: varied Desired housing form: as free as possible (barn, stable, garden shed, etc.) Several cats from difficult circumstances are looking for a new home together. They are more reserved or fearful towards humans and are unlikely to become classic lap cats. Nevertheless, they are attentive, robust animals with good instincts, ideal as mousers on a farm or large property. They are very social with each other and closely follow their fellow animals. Therefore, we only place them in groups of at least two or into an existing cat group. For acclimatization, a protected space like a barn, stable, or garden shed is important, where they can be securely housed for the first few weeks. Regular food, fresh water, and a dry retreat are necessary. With patience and calm handling, some individuals may become more trusting over time – we cannot guarantee this. An ideal setting would be a farm with surrounding fields, meadows, or forest, an environment with ample space and natural hunting grounds. These cats do not seek a sofa spot but rather a task and people who accept them as they are.

About Bauernhofkatzen/Mäusefänger

What life with Bauernhofkatzen/Mäusefänger looks like

Bauernhofkatzen/Mäusefänger is a medium-sized adult european shorthair cat waiting at Verein der Katzenfreunde e.V. in St. Ingbert.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bauernhofkatzen/Mäusefänger, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bauernhofkatzen/Mäusefänger?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Verein der Katzenfreunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bauernhofkatzen/Mäusefänger on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bauernhofkatzen/Mäusefänger if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Verein der Katzenfreunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bauernhofkatzen/Mäusefänger already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bauernhofkatzen/Mäusefänger isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Verein der Katzenfreunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bauernhofkatzen/Mäusefänger and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
