Adopt Fresia

European Shorthair · Female · Kitten · 4 months

Sought Holding Form: Fresia is a young cat who became a mother early. She lovingly raised her kittens in the cat shelter and has since lived there. It becomes clear quickly that Fresia is not entirely trusting of people yet. She keeps her distance, sits high on the scratching post, and observes everything attentively from a safe distance. But in Fresia there is no wickedness, only insecurity and the caution of a cat that has experienced little stability. For her, we are looking for people who simply give her the time she needs. People who do not expect anything but accept her as she is. Since Fresia is compatible with other cats, she could fit well with a laid-back, social feline companion or move out with a cat she already gets along with in the shelter. She would be a wonderful "follower," a quiet companion without pressure and without expectations. An ideal home for Fresia would be in a rural area where she can enjoy a roam. She can hunt mice, stroll over meadows, and then return to the house when she wants. Fresia is young, attentive, and full of potential. She simply needs people with patience and hearts who give her the chance to develop trust at her own pace. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Fresia

What life with Fresia looks like

Fresia is a large puppy/kitten european shorthair cat waiting at Verein der Katzenfreunde e.V. in St. Ingbert.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fresia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fresia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Verein der Katzenfreunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fresia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fresia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Verein der Katzenfreunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fresia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fresia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Verein der Katzenfreunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fresia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
